Despite its small size, Rwanda offers deeply immersive wildlife encounters – from trekking endangered mountain gorillas in bamboo forests to tracking chimpanzees beneath towering rainforest canopies. Meilleur moment pour visiter
Rwanda is a fantastic year-round destination, but trekking experiences are best during the drier months.
June to September (Dry Season)
The best time for gorilla and chimp trekking. Trails are drier, hiking conditions are easier, and visibility in the forests is generally clearer.
December to February (Short Dry Season)
Warm temperatures and relatively dry conditions make this another excellent period for trekking and exploring Rwanda’s national parks.
March to May & October to November (Green Seasons)
The forests become lush and dramatic after the rains. While trails can be muddy, the landscapes are incredibly beautiful, photography conditions are excellent, and there are often fewer visitors.
Expérience épique
GORILLA TREKKING IN VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK
There’s a moment in the forest when everything goes quiet — the mist hangs between giant bamboo stalks, boots sink softly into volcanic soil, and the only sound is distant birdsong echoing through the mountains. Then suddenly, through the dense greenery, a gorilla family appears. Calm. Powerful. Completely unbothered by your presence.
Watching a silverback move through the forest or seeing young gorillas tumble and play just metres away is one of Africa’s most emotional wildlife encounters. Every movement feels human yet wild — a reminder of how deeply connected we are to the natural world.
Volcanoes National Park lies within the Virunga Mountain range, a dramatic landscape of rainforest-covered volcanoes shared between Rwanda, Uganda, and the DRC. Trekking conditions vary daily, making each experience feel entirely unique — some treks are short and gentle, while others lead deep into the misty mountains.
